Kirkwood Consulting’s brokerage service is aimed at helping individuals tackle the issue of worklessness by creating genuine work opportunities with a range of employers. We work with like minded employers to source and find the ideal work placement opportunities that would give the customer the chance to gain new skills, to build on their confidence and self esteem, whilst experiencing the world of work.

Our brokerage service offers a 2 to 8 week work placement and training opportunity. We work extensively with local and national employers, charities, not for profit and community based organisations to source and identify a wide choice of opportunities. The start of the journey back into employment begins with a work placement opportunity.

As prime and sub contractors to the DWP our delivery and focus is all about the customer and outcomes. Therefore our bespoke and tailored service provides the customer with a choice of meaningful but unpaid work experience opportunities that will enable them to experience what it is like to be back in work, to understand the current employment market and to get a first hand view of what employers want whilst being given the chance to develop new skills.

Our research has highlighted that more and more people feel that they are being excluded from getting a job. They feel that they don’t have the skills, experience or qualifications required for the roles they are applying for. Therefore work placement opportunities are a way for customers to gain the relevant skills, experience and to build on their confidence, whilst getting the opportunity for on the job training, which in return will boost their self confidence, make them feel a sense of worth, and ultimately resulting in an enthusiastic and job ready candidate.

Our delivery model focuses on proving a cost effective, ethical and structured service to Work Programme and Mandatory Work Activity providers.

up-to-date CV, that they have agreed to participate in unpaid work and that their contact details are accurate.

We contact customers by phone to discuss their preferences, restrictions and barriers. Each customer is allocated a dedicated recruiter that will work closely with them on a one to one basis. Customers’ records are held by us in a database that has passed all of DWP security measures.

We broker a wide range of unpaid work experience opportunities with employers. Opportunities will be brokered in all sectors. We quality assure all employers in order to safeguard customers, including obtaining health and safety assessments.

Customers will be expected to attend interviews for all Work Placement Opportunities. Work Programme providers would be expected to pay customers’ interview expenses and to ensure that all customers have the correct interview attire.

We agree with the customer and employer on the length of the work placement and the start date, we also take into account any childcare restrictions. Work Programme providers would be expected to pay customers’ placement expenses.

We provide continuous support and advice to all customers so they feel supported and empowered.

Each customer will be contacted and career coached throughout their work placement.

Each customer will have an up to date CV at the end of their work placement and be encouraged to actively job search by being provided a list of potential employers to contact.

We will also provide contact details for an employer reference if required.

Our fees are flexible in line with the finance model of the Work Programme.

Our fees on the MWA are very competitive and in line with the market rate.
