Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy is an integral part of our company culture and ethos. We are committed to conducting our business ethically and responsibly, benefiting not only our clients but also the community and environment in which we operate.

We believe in making a positive impact beyond our business operations. Our CSR initiatives focus on ethical practices, community support, and environmental sustainability.

Environmental Commitment

At Kirkwood Consulting, we recognise the urgent need to address climate change and are dedicated to reducing our carbon footprint. We have taken significant steps to operate more sustainably, including adapting all of our courses and programmes for remote delivery, with an option for a blended approach. This change has reduced our carbon footprint by over 80%, helping us maintain a minimal environmental impact.

To further our commitment, we continue to work remotely for at least three days a week. When travel is necessary, we promote car sharing and use trains whenever possible to reduce emissions. Our efforts have led to a 100% reduction in waste and emissions over the last four years since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. As a paperless office, we recycle all materials and donate unwanted IT equipment and office furniture to charitable causes. Operating digitally means that we minimise the need for printing and significantly reduce our direct greenhouse gas emissions.

In partnership with BornGood, an ethical business focused on sustainability, 60% of our laptops purchased in the last two years have been refurbished. This partnership supports the circular economy by giving new life to old tech and reinforcing our commitment to working sustainably.

Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

• Zero-Tolerance Policy Kirkwood Consulting has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, and forced labour. We uphold ethical operations across all areas of our business, including our supply chain and third-party relationships.

Monitoring and Compliance We regularly monitor, implement, and review systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery does not occur within our business or supply chain. With an estimated 21 to 36 million people enslaved worldwide, it is crucial that responsible organisations like ours actively work to prevent such violations of human rights.

Supply Chain Standards

• Environmental Accreditation Where appropriate, we prefer to work with suppliers holding ISO 14001 environmental accreditation. This standard ensures that our suppliers’ manufacturing processes are environmentally responsible and sustainable.

Health & Safety Policy

• Employee and Client Wellbeing Our Health & Safety Policy is essential for the continued wellbeing of our employees and clients. We provide a comprehensive handbook detailing best practices for a safe working environment. Regular risk assessments are conducted to review and improve working conditions, and all clients are informed of relevant health and safety procedures at the beginning of each course.

We believe that accommodating family commitments is fundamental to our business principles. To support this, we offer a childcare scheme for our employees, promoting a healthy work-life balance.

Community Engagement

• Giving in Kind We believe in giving back to the community in which we operate. As part of our ‘reduce, reuse, recycle’ ethos, Kirkwood Consulting donates excess training and office equipment to local charities and Horton Kirby School.

• Volunteer Days We support and enable our employees to give back individually by providing three ‘volunteer days’ annually. These days can be spent with our chosen charitable organisation or on personal charitable projects, empowering our team to make a positive impact.
