Part of our vision is to use our position as recruiters and consultants to help our clients and the community that we serve by ensuring that we operate as an ethically sound and responsible organisation.
We have developed a strong environmental ethos which has helped us to reduce our carbon footprint, by reducing our waste and emissions by 45% over the last 2 years.
Climate change is one of the most pressing issues facing every developed country and at Kirkwood Consulting we believe in playing a key part in doing our bit for the environment to reduce waste in both our offices, we have removed all individual bins and we recycle paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, toners and electrical equipment.
To reduce our direct greenhouse gas emissions, we have introduced lighting controls to reduce our energy consumption.
We have also promoted more environmentally friendly alternatives to support our office function through better use of equipment, reducing consumables, promoting recycled products and promoting the principles of a paperless office.
Kirkwood Consulting has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, trafficking or forced labour in any part of our business and we are committed to acting ethically with integrity and decency in our business dealings and relationships.
As an organisation we take steps to monitor, implement and review effective systems and controls that we have in place to ensure modern slavery is not taking place anywhere in our business or in our supply chain.
Where appropriate, we positively discriminate in favour of suppliers holding the ISO 14001 environmental accreditation. This standard improves the sustainability of the manufacturing processes carried out by our suppliers.
When purchasing office furniture we source materials manufactured using raw materials from sustainable sources by FSC accredited suppliers.
Communicating our policy and health & safety guidelines is key to the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees. A copy of the company handbook is given to all new employees and the most recent version is available in the company policies and procedures file. The handbook details best practice for a safe working environment through our health & safety manual. Regular risk assessments are carried out to review and improve working conditions for all our employees.
Making flexible working available to all employees for the accommodation of family commitments is key to the foundations and principles of the business as well as providing a childcare scheme, which is important to the wellbeing of all employees.
All excess equipment is donated to local charities and Horton Kirby School, supporting our “reduce, reuse, recycle” ethos.
All our employees are entitled to “three days a year to make a difference”. This ensures that everyone in the company, should they wish to, has the opportunity to volunteer their time and expertise to our chosen charitable organisation or a personally backed project.
